Welcome To Paradise

was the theme of this year's school festival. And what a paradise of screaming children, mouth-burning takoyaki, and harried teachers it was.

Villagers came from meters around to attend the festival, which transforms the high school into an amusement park and exhibition hall. High school students ran the stalls and events.

Suddenly, all my dickhead guy students were sweet boys who held little girls' hands and gave pony rides.

Actually, the kids who came were all super cute and fun. I guess the ugly ones were allowed to play in the dump behind the building.

I cobbled together the dorky "English Room", where I posted pictures of the students with answers to questions I asked ('What Makes You Happy?", "What Are You Proud Of?", and the macabre "If You Only Had One Day To Live, What Would You Do?").
The third year students also made a little movie preview and we showed that as well. Unfortunately, I'm retarded in the ways of uploading movies, so no one gets to see it.

There were lots of yummy food stalls,

and a haunted house, and a little concert put on by the teachers one day, and students the next. The crowd went nuts when Kyu-san and I did the 'Star Wars' theme

and was moved to tears when the handbell choir did 'Country Road'.

There were other acts, but who cares? Everybody wanted more handbell.

The second day was more of the same, with the finishing act being the student bands. They totally rocked,

especially the all-girl band with Remi-chan wowing everyone with her rockstar vocals. I think she'd be a better idol than all those cross-eyed, waif-thin bitches.

After the concert was the inevitable destruction of the festival.

I got a little carried away saying good-bye.

And what event would be complete without...A PARTY! Of course. After they kicked all the students out, the teachers snuck in beer, sushi, and this crazy stuff called oden which I cannot even describe. Look it up in Wikipedia or something. It was held in the SECRET Japanese-style room that supposedly none of the students know about. Shh.

This little girl snuck into the party and got more trashed than the rest of us. She was clearly the life of the party.

And because I don't know to quit when I'm ahead, I drank some shochu wine coolers.
This happened.

Then this.

And immediately following, this.

Now, I guess it's back to the regular humdrum schedule. Life was a lot more fun when I had the school festival to look forward too. Sigh....
